My dad was born in Glasgow and moved to Dumbarton when he was very young. He moved into bellsmyre
when he was a kid when they were just building the place up and roads were just being made. He
spent his days up in the hills getting into mischief and creating his own fun as you had to in those
days. My dad married my mum when he was 20 and they were one of the first tenants in Bellsmyre high
flats. He fathered 3 kids me being the oldest, I have two younger brothers both of whom he
supported through playing football which was one of his passions. He followed Scotland and Rangers
in his earlier days. He trained as a butcher and finished his career in allied distillers. My dad
had one grandchild when he passed away who he cherished very much and loved to spend time with.
Callum helped him with his struggle with depression as he found being with him theraputic. My dad
struggled with his mental health and suffered severe anxiety and depression but still managed to
work fulltime, look after my brother and spend most of his spare time up the crags with his faithful
companion Sam - the dog. He didnt mix much with company and sought his peace and contentment up in
the hills. Overtoun house and the crags were his favourite place. this is where he rests now. He
kept a lot of his illness hidden the best he could but in the end it became to
much.................. Rest now dad. Love you and think about you every day
you would be proud
Hey dad, today is a day where we all wonder what to do on the day that you left us. What do you do. Is there a right or a wrong way. Going to plant a wee tree over the next few weeks. Feel I just need somewhere to go but where we scattered your ashes is to far away for this time of year. Callum had his first football game last week you would have been so proud of him. He scored last week. We were all there. Grant is a lot better. he is getting so big. Well I better go now got work to do. Love you now and always. Annemarie (Donnas Mum) is coming to join you and quite recently my friends sister passed away. Send my love to them. Love your girl elaine
always there
Someone asked me about you today.
It's been so long since anyone has done that.
It felt so good to talk about you,
to share my memories of you,
to simply say your name out loud.
She asked me if I minded talking about
what happened to you —
or would it be too painful to speak of it.
I told her I think of it every day
and speaking about it helps me to release
the tormented thoughts whirling around in my head.
She said she never realized the pain
would last this long.
She apologized for not asking sooner.
I told her, "Thanks for asking."
I don't know if it was curiosity
or concern that made her ask,
But told her, "Please do it again sometime —
soon."

Hey dad
your little grand son is doing great. He is blonde and is a very hungry wee boy. He has a great set of lungs on him and he frequently lets Stephen and Kirsty know about it. Stephen is doing great, he is in his glory so dont worry about him. I know you probably will be. He is very proud and coping well. you would be proud of him. Sleep tight. x x x x x x
callum
Hey dad, david was looking through pictures of you round his back with callum, he and michelle got quite emotional. They showed the pictures to callum and he sobbed his wee heart out. He misses you so much. He has been asking a lot of questions about heaven and what it looks like. He also thinks god looks a bit like you lol. He still remembers so much about you and we will continue to help him keep the great memories alive. He was very young when you left.
